Herdsires

A sire sets the tone for any breeding program and we are always seeking the best new genetics we can to bring fresh genes into our herd for customers.

RPS 44L Back in Black

44L was our pick out of all the RPS bulls in 2024, I had a lot of admiration for his sire, Heavy Metal and he came out of a very quiet, well put together cow from a proven line so we jumped at the opportunity to own him. His numbers are very balanced which we hope will let us use him on a wide variety of cows with good success. His first calves will be on the ground in February of 2025 and we hope to have a daughter feature in the fall sales.

CLR 38K Knockout

When we purchased Knockout we where looking to increase our dark red genetics in an easy-fleshing moderate bull and so far we are very pleased with his results. He was raised by one of the best cows we’ve seen in a while and we’re excited to have her genes working for us in the fantastic daughters he sires. A larger portion of his calves from the first year were heifers and they look exceptional, his first offspring to sell was a pretty red heifer who gained a fair bit of attention at the Wish List sale in December before selling to Unger Land and Livestock.

RPS 149J Doc Holliday

Doc sired the feature group of bulls in our sale pen for 2024, we specifically picked him out looking for a black herdsire who would moderate and ad depth to our larger framed cows and we are very pleased with the results. He has fantastic feet and moves fluidly with a quiet disposition, all traits I love to be increasing in our program. His first group of heifers are set to calve in 2025 and so far it looks like his daughters are every bit as good as his sons.

RPS 78J Winchester

Winchester was our second black sire from the same breeding program as Doc, we only got to use him one year but he added some great power and hair into his offspring. He has an impressive set of black cow bulls to choose from in our 2024 sale pen

DL 5D Dice

DL 5D Dice: We were fortunate to have the opportunity to acquire Dice right off the bat in our purebred journey and have been blessed by having a top quality herdsire to cross with our strong base of females. The Dice calves always stand out in the pen with their length, thickness and depth and have always sold early on in the bull sale season. At the end of 2023 Dice was ranked number one out of Canadian Sires for weaning weight EPD and number two for yearling weight, his progeny have the growth records to match.

DRT Lonesome Hard Drive 260H

We picked out Hard Drive at the Lonesome Dove sale in 2021 when we felt the need to bring in another outcross sire. He is a very easy keeper and his calves are born easily and grow well; just the kind of combo any cow producer likes. Hard Drive is a bit smaller frame size then some and moderates those big power cows a little while maintaining great weaning weights. His offspring would work great for anyone seeking a sire with that calving ease and growth combo.

HDG Hillsdown Hamilton 10H

We picked out Hamilton as a calving ease specialist to use on our replacement heifers and he has done very well for us. He has never gone lame and has fathered some great calves we have retained as future replacements.
